Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan reacted harshly to the Azerbaijani journalist’s question about changing the Armenian constitution.
He noted that he would like to hear a question from an Azerbaijani journalist in Yerevan that would not repeat the official Baku speech, since they are discussing these topics with their Azerbaijani counterparts.
“We do not share the perception that there is any worrying provision for Azerbaijan in our constitution; therefore, we do not accept this as a negotiation agenda and are not negotiating around this,” he said.
According to Mirzoyan, an agreement has been reached on essential issues, and peace has been established; however, there are still issues on which the two countries do not agree. “Now this is one of such issues.” According to him, it is recorded that there is no agreement on this issue. Referring to Azerbaijan’s statement that in that case they will not sign the peace agreement, Mirzoyan said: “Well, we also say that you are doing this in vain, it is not worth it. But well, that is their position. Now this is the issue on which there is no agreement.”
According to him, the initialing of the agreement recorded the establishment of peace: “What the agreement aims to achieve, the establishment of peace, we have achieved with the initialing, both with the meeting of the leaders and with further meetings. Peace has been established. We, the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan, enjoy peace.”
