Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan referred to the recent statements of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"In any case, we see a certain change in the emphasis of statements coming from Azerbaijan since August 8. Of course, we cannot say that there are no statements that we consider destructive, and the statement you mentioned is one of them," he said. According to Rubinyan, if we revisit the issue of place names, then Armenia will be in a win-win situation. "But we must move forward. That is the way to strengthen and preserve peace."
He noted that peace is also the fact that wheat of Russian origin is being imported to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan. "This is a historical event, and the last time something like this happened was in 1991-92, before the active phase of the war."
According to Rubinyan, Armenia is establishing a railway connection with a country other than Georgia. "The only country with which we have had a railway connection for 30 years is Georgia. Some goods are now being imported to Armenia from Russia and Kazakhstan. It is impossible to underestimate the importance of this event." He noted that on the path to peace, there will be problematic issues and statements, but we should focus on real achievements. "But the import of wheat through the territory of Azerbaijan is a significant fact that should be recorded, including in the context of peace."
