Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred to Aliyev’s statement regarding the lifting of the ban on cargo transportation to Armenia via Azerbaijan. He recalled that he had also welcomed Aliyev’s statement on international platforms.
“The first beneficiaries of this statement turned out to be the countries of Central Asia. Of course, Armenia, first of all, but also the countries of Central Asia,” he said.
“After the Azerbaijani President’s statement on lifting transit restrictions, we announced that we are ready to ensure the transit of trucks from Turkey, via Margara and Khndzoresk, to Azerbaijan and vice versa today. At the moment, this is the only route, all roads and infrastructure of which are ready.”
The Prime Minister also noted that at the political level, Armenia has no problem with providing a railway connection between the central part of Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan. “But now it is physically impossible to do this, because there is no railway. That railway still needs to be built, which we are negotiating with the US,” he said.
