Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Aliyev’s statement on lifting the ban on cargo transportation to Armenia via Azerbaijan was unexpected for him.
“Again, I want to express my appreciation to the President of Azerbaijan, who made that decision.
By the way, this decision was not discussed with Armenia in advance to that extent.
We knew that there was an understanding, an agreement that one train would come, but our perception was that it would be just one train.
And the statement that was made during the visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan was, in fact, unexpected for us, and this was one of those cases when a surprising but very positive statement was made from Azerbaijan, which means that, nevertheless, there are very significant opportunities for changing the balance,” he said.
