“We are very interested in the opportunities for economic and environmental cooperation. We also hope that the OSCE platform during this and subsequent chairmanships will contribute to further strengthening of peace,” Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said during a joint press conference with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.
According to the Minister, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office’s visit to the region takes place in entirely new circumstances, amid significant developments in the area, including the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Minister emphasized that it is no secret that the OSCE, with its toolkit, is called upon to establish peace in the South Caucasus. “Now that this peace has been established and we have embarked on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, these realities are new from the point of view of Armenia-OSCE cooperation,” he said, adding that new horizons of cooperation need to be explored.
