Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of the Republic of Armenia met with the President of the European Court of Human Rights, Mattias Guyomar, in Strasbourg.
Prime Minister Pashinyan highly appreciated the key role of the European Court of Human Rights in the European system of human rights protection and highlighted Armenia's membership in the Council of Europe and the ECHR, which is one of the pillars of strengthening democracy and the rule of law.
The Prime Minister presented the process of judicial and legal reforms being implemented by the Government of Armenia, emphasizing their targeted direction: increasing the independence, efficiency, and accountability of the justice system.
Mattias Guyomar positively assessed the reforms underway in Armenia and expressed confidence that they will contribute to raising the level of human rights protection. He reaffirmed the European Court of Human Rights' readiness to continue close cooperation with the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues related to the application of ECHR case law. They explored prospects for developing the justice system and expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of human rights protection.
