The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom of Spain, participated in the reception dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia in Madrid, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Spain. The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia delivered a welcoming speech.

“Your Excellencies,

Honored guests,

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is a great honor to participate with you today in the solemn reception dedicated to the National Day of the Republic of Armenia.

Our National Day is not only a holiday commemorating Armenia's declaration of independence, but also a reaffirmation of our commitment to the values we have adopted: freedom, endurance, peace, and democracy.

This year, our celebration has an essential message. On August 8, 2025, in Washington, with the support of President Donald Trump, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a Declaration that opens a new page in our history. It is an important milestone on the path to establishing lasting peace in our region, a peace that our peoples have long been waiting for and deserve.

We are delighted to celebrate this important day in Madrid, a city that embodies cultural diversity, dialogue, and friendship. The relations between Armenia and Spain, based on mutual respect and shared aspirations, are continually developing in the political, economic, and cultural spheres. We highly appreciate Spain's role as a partner, both within the European Union and beyond its borders, and look forward to further deepening our cooperation.

I express special gratitude to the Armenian community living in Spain, thanks to whose dedication and work a living bridge has been created between our two peoples.

May this day be another opportunity to deepen further the ties between Armenia and Spain for the benefit of the well-being, peace, and prosperity of our peoples.

Long live the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of Spain.

Thank you,” noted the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
