RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan’s message on Independence Day:
Dear citizens of the Republic of Armenia,
I congratulate all of us on the 34th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.
Independence Day is not only a moment of historical memory, but also a starting point for the path to the future. 34 years ago, our people made a decisive choice to rediscover and re-establish their statehood.
That choice obliged us to navigate a complex and trying path, facing wars, losses, and numerous challenges.
But that path also taught us that independence in itself is not a value if it does not serve the security, well-being, and peace of our people.
Today, the most significant and most urgent problem facing our state is peace. Peace not as a short-term pause or as a fragile agreement, but as a stable and solid foundation for building the future of Armenia.
We recognize that peace is not merely an external agreement; it is an internal conviction, the outcome of unity and national strength.
These days, we are taking steps towards establishing comprehensive peace. It is a complex and responsible process that requires patience, will, and sincerity.
Establishing peace in the region will mean a new quality of relations with neighbors, the opportunity to live in good neighborliness, open borders, and new prospects. We realize that this is not an easy path, but it is the only path that can ensure the development of our country and the prosperous and dignified life of its citizens.
Dear compatriots,
Independence is a movement, an ongoing process. It does not end with any year or symbolic anniversary. Independence is a responsibility that is renewed every day - towards our state, towards our neighbors, towards our generations. It is a way of life that we must consistently bring to life - with our work, our consciousness, and our unity.
Today, we know that the most significant prerequisite for building a strong state is peace.
Peace that will allow us to open up new opportunities for the economy, education, culture, and science, that will ensure the confidence of our citizens in tomorrow, that will make independence not an achievement, but an everyday reality for our country and our society.
Once again, I congratulate all of us on the 34th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia.
May independence continue to be the solid foundation of our unity and a peaceful future for our people.
