Azerbaijani media reported that President Ilham Aliyev today received Stephen Dowty, the UK's Minister of State for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories.
According to the report, Dowty congratulated Aliyev on the historic results achieved in Washington in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and advancing the agenda of a peaceful settlement, expressing his country's readiness to support this process. He also stressed the importance of the results achieved in Washington in the field of regional transport communications.
Aliyev expressed gratitude for the congratulations and stated that Azerbaijan will continue its efforts to advance the agenda of peace and the process of normalizing relations with Armenia.
The parties also exchanged views on the prospects for the development of Azerbaijani-British relations. Satisfaction was expressed with the current state of political ties.
During the discussion, energy cooperation was also touched upon, and the successful partnership between Azerbaijan and BP was highlighted. The parties expressed confidence that the mutually beneficial cooperation with BP will continue in the coming decades.
It is noteworthy that the British minister presented the Azerbaijani President with an England national team jersey bearing Aliyev's name.
