Independence is the result of our daily efforts, strategic choices, and responsibility. Vahagn Khachaturyan

Message from the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan:

Dear citizens of the Republic of Armenia,

Thirty-five years ago, the course of our modern history was marked by an event of decisive importance. The Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR adopted the Declaration of Independence. With that decision, after a centuries-long hiatus, the idea of our statehood was restored, and the path to independence began.

The Declaration was not just a legal document. It was a symbol of national will, common goals, and a new future. It clarified the aspiration of our people to create an independent and sovereign state, the full establishment of which was realized by the referendum of September 21, 1991.

Today, remembering that historic day, we emphasize the continuing power and value of the Declaration. It is the fundamental program for the development and establishment of our state, which enshrines the obligations of establishing democracy, the rule of law, protecting human rights, strengthening the army, and modernizing education and the economy.

Today, in the midst of multifaceted and radical changes taking place in our country and around us, it is more important than ever to emphasize the importance of true independence and sovereignty. It is not just a historical achievement, but a vital necessity that shapes our statehood, ensures the free and dignified life of the people, and is a solid foundation for our future. Independence is the result of our daily efforts, strategic choices, and responsibility. It is the most critical path and choice that we must preserve, strengthen, and pass on to future generations.

The Declaration is also a reminder that independence is not a gift, but a daily responsibility: to strengthen the foundations of the state, build a just and prosperous society, and pass it on to future generations.

Dear compatriots,

I congratulate you on the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Armenia. May our state firmly walk the path of peace, security, and development.
