Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin said leaders from more than 20 countries will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
"Chinese President Xi Jinping will gather with more than 20 foreign leaders and heads of 10 international organizations on the banks of the Haihe River," he said at a press conference.
The leaders of Russia, Belarus, India, Iran, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Maldives, Nepal, Egypt, Turkmenistan, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, and Vietnam have been invited to the event.
According to Liu Bin, the participants will discuss the SCO's successful experience, outline the direction of the organization's development, and reach an agreement on cooperation issues.
It should be noted that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit will be held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international organization founded in 2001. It includes India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. Observer countries are Afghanistan and Mongolia, and partner countries are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, the UAE, Turkey, and Sri Lanka.
