Canada takes note of the decision to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group. Foreign Ministry

Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand issued a statement welcoming the agreements signed between Pashinyan and Aliyev, brokered by the United States.

“Canada welcomes the agreements signed last week between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

By initialing the peace agreement while recognizing each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, these countries have taken necessary steps toward a just and lasting peace for the peoples of the region.

“Canada commends the leadership of United States President Donald Trump and the achievements made in Washington in agreeing.

Agreements of this nature, achieved through diplomatic negotiations, provide a clear path to a comprehensive peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan that will help resolve outstanding issues, including the release of all Armenian detainees and prisoners of war, the right of safe and dignified return of Armenian civilians, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Canada notes the decision to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group. It remains committed to supporting any future mechanism that ensures the principles of non-use of force, respect for territorial integrity, and the right to self-determination.

Canada reaffirms its commitment to achieving lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the South Caucasus, including a negotiated political solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
