Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement at the trilateral meeting with Donald Trump and Ilham Aliyev

Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan made a statement during a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the White House.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister noted:

"Thank you, Mr. President,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today, we have reached an important milestone in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. We are laying the foundation for a better history than the one we have had in the past. This groundbreaking progress would not have been possible without President Trump's involvement and his resolute commitment to peace in our region.

The initialing of the peace agreement will pave the way for an end to decades of conflict between our countries and will usher in a new era based on full respect for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Today's declarations, which President Trump will personally sign and will be present at the signing ceremony, provide confidence and assurance that we are opening a page of peace, prosperity, security, and economic cooperation in the South Caucasus. In this context, let me highlight the agreement on the opening of transport communications in the region, based on the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction. I am particularly pleased that Armenia, together with the United States, will work to implement TRIPP, the Trump Path to Peace and Prosperity: a connectivity project that will unblock the entire region. TRIPP will open strategic economic opportunities that will bring long-term benefits. It will promote infrastructure investments, promote regional connectivity, and strengthen the United States' leadership as a major player in conflict resolution.

I want to thank President Trump and his team for their role in brokering this outcome that will transform the entire reality of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This is a serious deal that we have signed today. This is a success for our countries and the region. And a success for the world, because a more peaceful region means a safer world. In one sentence, this can be described as follows: a force that leads to peace.

Mr. President,

Today's outstanding achievement is yet another testament to your global leadership and your historic role as a statesman and peacemaker on the world stage. Establishing peace requires vision, political courage, and determination. And most importantly, doing so involves faith in the work. As the Holy Bible says: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." May God illuminate this path.

Thank you.

And I congratulate all of us, President Aliyev, you, our colleagues from Azerbaijan, our colleagues from Armenia, the United States, all the peoples of our region, the peoples of our countries, I congratulate the world, because as I said, as a result of this, the world will become better."
