We value close Armenia-EU cooperation: EU High Representative

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, who arrived in Armenia on an official visit.

Welcoming the guest, the President said in particular: "Today, the Republic of Armenia has adopted a path that, in general terms, we can call the path of democracy, and in this regard, cooperation with the European Union is essential.

Our cooperation is successful, encompassing all spheres of our lives, including the political, economic, social, parliamentary, and local levels. We also highly appreciate the support of the European Union that is being provided to Armenia in confronting foreign policy challenges."

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Kaja Kallas noted that she was happy to visit Armenia. "We attach importance to the close cooperation between Armenia and the EU and are interested in establishing stable peace in your region," the EU High Representative said in particular.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to Armenia's multifaceted cooperation with the European Union. President Khachaturian presented the priorities and fundamental positions of Armenia's foreign policy, emphasizing that Armenia firmly follows the path of establishing peace in the region and building good neighborly relations with all neighboring countries.

The reforms implemented in the Republic of Armenia in recent years, particularly in the fields of justice, anti-corruption efforts, and the development and establishment of democratic institutions, as well as the international support received in this direction, were highlighted.

The participants of the meeting emphasized the consistent efforts made by the Armenian authorities to establish state and political institutions.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of energy, in particular, renewable and "green" energy, emphasizing the importance of promoting Armenia-EU cooperation in this direction and forming new initiatives.
