They exchanged views on regional developments

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, who arrived in Armenia on an official visit.

Welcoming Alain Berset’s visit, Prime Minister Pashinyan highly appreciated the cooperation with the Council of Europe, highlighting its role in strengthening democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. The Prime Minister thanked the Council of Europe for its continuous support of the democratic reforms being implemented in Armenia.

Secretary General Alain Berset, in turn, reaffirmed the Council of Europe’s readiness to continue close cooperation with the Government of Armenia and to support initiatives aimed at the development of democratic institutions and the protection of human rights. He also congratulated Prime Minister Pashinyan on the fact that the European Political Community Summit and COP-17 will be held in Armenia in 2026, describing it as evidence of Armenia’s growing international prestige.

During the meeting, issues on the agenda of Armenia-Council of Europe cooperation, as well as prospects for expanding joint programs in the fields of democracy and the rule of law, were discussed.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on regional developments and ensuring stability.
