Kyrgyzstan ready to provide platform for signing peace agreement

On May 26, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, received the Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic (Torag of the Zhogorky Kenesh), Nurlanbek Turgunbek Uulu. Alen Simonyan first had a private conversation with his counterpart, expressing gratitude for accepting his invitation to visit Armenia.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek Uulu, in turn, expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia for the warm welcome, noting that he was impressed by the visit to Armenia.

The private conversation was followed by an expanded meeting of the delegations, during which various issues related to the bilateral agenda were discussed. In particular, emphasis was placed on inter-parliamentary cooperation and the activation of ties between the friendship groups operating in the parliaments of the two countries.

Alen Simonyan touched upon the already completed draft of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that the Armenian side is ready to sign it.

In response, the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament noted that Kyrgyzstan is ready to provide a platform for signing a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The RA NA Speaker emphasized the importance of the “Crossroads of Peace” project in the context of activating economic ties between the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, the NA Speakers of the two countries signed a memorandum, “On Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Zhogorki Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic,” which envisages activating cooperation between friendship groups, committees, and staff of the parliaments of the two countries.
