Discussed issues related to the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation led by Gert-Jan Koopman, the Head of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood Policy.

The Prime Minister attached importance to the development of Armenia-European Union relations and emphasized the Government of the Republic of Armenia's commitment to deepen and expand cooperation in all directions. The Prime Minister emphasized that cooperation with the EU is built on the basis of mutual respect, common values, and partnership, the core of which is the strengthening of democracy and ensuring the rule of law.

Gert-Jan Koopman, in turn, highly appreciated the partnership relations with Armenia, emphasizing that the EU views Armenia as a reliable and trustworthy partner. He positively assessed the law "On the launch of the process of accession of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union" recently adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, noting that it is an important message that testifies to the sincerity and consistency of Armenia's European choice. Koopman emphasized that the EU welcomes the ambitious reform agenda of the Armenian Government and is ready to consistently support this process by expanding cooperation in all areas that contribute to the sustainable development of Armenia and civil society.

The interlocutors discussed the current stage of Armenia-EU relations, including implementing the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, economic and sectoral cooperation, digitalization, green energy, education, infrastructure development, and democratic reforms.

In this context, the interlocutors discussed the measures planned for 2025-2027 under the Resilience and Growth Plan announced in Brussels in 2024, emphasizing the need for active cooperation in implementing the agreements reached.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues related to regional security and stability, particularly those related to the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.
