Within the framework of the working visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, met with the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Michael O'Flaherty.
The interlocutors discussed issues of cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Council of Europe, in particular, the ongoing work on the protection of human rights, the development of democratic institutions, and the strengthening of the rule of law. Armenia's significant progress in recent years towards democratic reforms, including in the area of press freedom, was noted with mutual satisfaction.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Michael O'Flaherty exchanged views on the possibilities of effectively implementing multilateral platforms, including mechanisms for the protection of human rights, in the context of current geopolitical trends and regional developments.
