Hovhannisyan and Guterres discussed regional issues

On May 2, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

During a private meeting with the UN Secretary-General following the official ceremony of presenting his credentials, Ambassador Hovhannisyan highlighted the importance of the consistent expansion of relations with the UN and explained the steps being taken by the Government of the Republic of Armenia in connection with hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Armenia in 2026.

The interlocutors touched upon several issues on the regional and international agenda. Paruyr Hovhannisyan presented to the UN Secretary-General Armenia's consistent efforts aimed at establishing lasting stability and peace in the region, highlighting the importance of signing the already agreed text of the "Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan" without delay, as well as the significance of implementing the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the RA Government aimed at the interconnection of the South Caucasus and the discovery of its full infrastructural potential.
