After the death of Pope Francis, the issue of electing the 267th pope has already gained momentum in the Vatican and beyond its walls. The names of possible candidates are being heard. The new pope will be elected by 135 cardinals, 110 of whom were appointed during the reign of Francis. Analyses show that Francis’ ideological opponents will not have the opportunity to elect a pope, and whoever is elected will continue the activities of the Catholic Church in the context that Francis has established and led.
