"We are ready to continue cooperation." Vice Speaker of the Iranian Majlis

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan and Deputy Speaker of the Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hamid-Reza Haji Babai had a productive meeting within the framework of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The parties emphasized the importance of multilateral relations between Armenia and Iran.

During the meeting, Hakob Arshakyan noted that Armenia attaches great importance to relations with Iran based on mutual respect and trust. He emphasized that in difficult geopolitical conditions, it is extremely important for Armenia to have reliable friends. Cooperation between the two countries plays a key role in maintaining regional stability.

Hakob Arshakyan spoke about the recent diplomatic exchange visits, including the Iran-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group visit and the Iranian Foreign Minister to Armenia, reflecting the growing political and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The interlocutors reaffirmed the importance of active cooperation in economic sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and trade, Armenia's strategic position as a transit route to Europe and the North, and Iran's vital ties with the Persian Gulf, India, and East Asia. Key factors promoting further cooperation within the framework of the North-South Transport Corridor, which is of strategic importance for both countries, were noted.

The RA NA Vice-Speaker reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to achieving long-term peace in the region.

In this context, Hakob Arshakyan expressed gratitude to Iran for its constant support for Armenia's territorial integrity and the inviolability of its borders.

"We have good relations with Armenia and are ready to continue cooperation and interaction. We stand by the rights of our friends," noted Hamid-Reza Haji Babayan.

Hakob Arshakyan expressed hope that the negotiations on all outstanding issues would proceed successfully and that the problems would be resolved peacefully.

The RA NA delegation included Tsovinar Vardanyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Financial, Credit, and Budgetary Issues; Arsen Torosyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Healthcare Issues; Hasmik Hakobyan, Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia; and Davit Arakelyan, Chief of Staff and Secretary General of the National Assembly.
