"Armenia is ready to sign a peace treaty." Galyan

"Armenia is ready to sign a peace treaty," said the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Srbuhi Galyan. Referring to the claims made by Azerbaijan that the Republic of Armenia should change the constitution and apply for the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, after which the document will be signed, and to the question of whether the Republic of Armenia is ready to fulfill these preconditions, Galyan said:

"I do not consider these ideas a precondition, and the government does not consider them either. I noted in my speech that peace has no alternative, and our actions should be aimed at the final establishment of peace."

Referring to the new constitution, he said: "We are working on a new text, but I cannot give details at the moment. But it is important to emphasize that the text will not be secret and will be made public at some point."

According to him, constitutional amendments are not a simple task that can be completed within 1-2 months. "It requires long-term work by specialists. We are talking about 8-10 months, and I don't think it is possible to prepare the text of the new constitution before that time."
