"What happened is not unprecedented." Nikol Pashinyan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the Margara checkpoint on the Armenian-Turkish border had been opened to pass a humanitarian aid convoy to Syria. “What happened is not unprecedented because in January 2023, the checkpoint was also opened so that the humanitarian aid sent by the government could reach the earthquake zone in Turkey, and in that sense, I think it is an important event, but not unprecedented.” He noted that this event should not be underestimated but not overestimated.

He also emphasized, “As of March 1, 2025, all entry and exit points of the Republic of Armenia are under the control of the RA border guards, and this is a significant event.”

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the border guards of the Russian Federal Service for the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for performing this function at our border checkpoints since independence.
