RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan spoke with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Development of the United Kingdom, David Lammy, on the telephone. The interlocutors discussed regional issues.
In the context of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the efforts made to finalize the agreement on establishing peace and interstate relations between the two countries and the RA proposal to sign it with an agreed text. Ararat Mirzoyan thanked David Lammy for the precise position expressed by the UK on the issue of concluding the agreement in the shortest possible time and establishing peace in the region.
Regarding the false accusations made by Azerbaijan regarding ceasefire violations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Minister Mirzoyan referred to the proposal submitted by the RA to create a joint mechanism for investigating cases of ceasefire violations and/or information about them, to which the Azerbaijani side did not respond positively. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that these and other proposals submitted by the Republic of Armenia, particularly on unblocking communications, can be a serious basis for building mutual trust and ensuring stability.
RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and UK Secretary of State David Lammy exchanged views on cooperation issues on international platforms. In particular, Minister Mirzoyan presented the preparatory work to hold the COP17 conference in Armenia, emphasizing the importance of close cooperation with the UK in this direction.
