What did Trump and Putin discuss?

During a phone call that lasted more than 1.5 hours, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump discussed the situation in Ukraine.

The Kremlin press service reported that Putin informed Trump that a 175-for-175 prisoner exchange would be held between the Russian and Ukrainian sides on March 19.

Putin supported Trump's idea of ​​Russia and Ukraine refraining from mutual attacks on energy infrastructure for 30 days and gave such an order to the military.

In the context of the US President's initiative to establish a 30-day ceasefire, the Russian side outlined:

  • Ensuring effective control of the ceasefire along the entire line of contact
  • The need to stop forced mobilization in Ukraine
  • The threat of rearmament of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
  • Cessation of arms supplies in that region.

The two countries' presidents agreed to start negotiations to ensure a safe environment for navigation in the Black Sea.

Trump has supported Putin's idea of ​​organizing hockey games in the United States and Russia.

Russian and American hockey players from the NHL and KHL will compete against each other.

The White House also reports that they shared the view that Iran should never be in a position to destroy Israel.

Trump and Putin agreed on a path to peace:

  • an energy and infrastructure ceasefire
  • technical talks on a naval ceasefire in the Black Sea
  • a complete ceasefire
  • lasting peace.
