The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that on February 25, during a working visit to Geneva, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Icelandic Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir.
The interlocutors discussed the prospects for expanding bilateral political dialogue and cooperation between Armenia and Iceland in various formats and platforms, including possible upcoming visits.
Minister Mirzoyan emphasized: “The active dynamics of deepening cooperation with the Nordic-Baltic countries testifies to the importance we attach to cooperation in this format, and we are ready to make maximum use of the existing opportunities through joint efforts, both in the context of bilateral sectoral cooperation and regional cooperation.”
Ararat Mirzoyan presented the Icelandic Foreign Minister with the efforts to deepen the Armenia-EU partnership, emphasizing the importance of exchanging experiences with Iceland as a close EU partner and strengthening its capabilities in specific areas.
The meeting touched upon international and regional developments. Both sides emphasized the importance of respecting the fundamental norms of international law and cooperation based on a unifying value system. Minister Mirzoyan also presented the security situation in the South Caucasus and Armenia’s efforts to establish sustainable peace.
