On February 24, during his working visit to Geneva, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The meeting touched upon issues of cooperation between Armenia and the ICRC.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Mirjana Spoljaric Egger discussed humanitarian issues. Minister Mirzoyan touched upon the problem of the release of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages illegally held in Azerbaijan, the ongoing sham trials, expressing concern about the health condition of the persons above and the possible impact on them.
Among other issues on the agenda, the ongoing and necessary additional efforts to clarify the fate of missing persons were discussed. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the readiness and steps expressed by the Republic of Armenia to address the issue, taking into account its sensitivity to the missing persons' family members.
The RA Foreign Minister noted that resolving humanitarian issues can be crucial in establishing a comprehensive settlement and sustainable peace.
During the meeting, Minister Mirzoyan presented the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including in the context of work on the text of the peace treaty, emphasizing the importance of demonstrating political will on the part of both sides in concluding it. International and regional developments were touched upon.
