"Armenia-EU relations have developed significantly." Khachaturian

President Vahagn Khachaturyan received a delegation led by Nils Ushakovs, the co-chair of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan welcomed the guests and emphasized that Armenia-EU relations have developed significantly in recent years and cover almost all areas of the partnership agenda.

"I would like to emphasize the role of the European Parliament, which has shown its constant support in issues of primary importance for Armenia and the Armenian people.

I assure you that our attitude toward all European Union initiatives is positive, and we are inclined to deepen our relations further. I am also confident our cooperation will become more comprehensive," the President said.

Nils Ushakovs expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and appreciation.

The meeting discussed issues related to the continuous promotion of close cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the EU. Particular importance was attached to continuously promoting the Armenia-EU principled partnership in the defense and security sectors. In this context, the critical role of the monitoring and duty-keeping carried out by the European Union Civilian Monitoring Mission was touched upon. Both sides highly appreciated the joint programs and initiatives implemented by Armenia and the European Union.

During the conversation, the importance of supporting the smooth implementation of democratic reforms in Armenia was emphasized. In this context, the Republic of the President stressed that Armenia has steadfastly adopted a policy of establishing and strengthening democratic institutions in the country, from which it will not retreat.

The meeting touched upon regional realities and developments. President Vahagn Khachaturyan reaffirmed Armenia's unequivocal position on achieving stable and lasting peace in his speech. The President stressed that stable peace in the region is one of the important prerequisites for strengthening democracy.
