"It's one thing to attack a CSTO member, another thing to attack a country that has submitted a candidacy for EU membership." Simonyan

Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan referred to the EU accession bill, noting that the citizens will submit such a project, and the National Assembly will discuss it. "Who said we will vote in favor?" Simonyan said in response to the journalist's question.

Referring to the concerns of the Russian side, he noted. "I don't think that combining cooperation in any way can be a problem. If it is a problem for them, I think there is no such problem." According to Simonyan, discussing the issues and finding solutions is possible. "The EAEU is an economically beneficial structure for RA, and we have no tendency to leave the EAEU, and we want to continue."

He discussed possible military operations on the border, noting that the presence of EU observers restrains Azerbaijan. "It is one thing to attack a CSTO member country; another thing is to attack a country that has applied for EU membership, shares the values of EU democracy, and has a high level of democracy. They are different realities."

He also expressed hope that EU observers' deployment terms will be extended.
