Political consultations between the Armenian and Canadian foreign departments occurred in Yerevan on December 6. The Armenian side was represented by Paruyr Hovhannisyan, the Canadian side, the Canadian Prime Minister's Special Envoy to the EU and Europe, and the Canadian Ambassador to France and Monaco, Stéphane Dion.
During the consultations, the interlocutors exchanged ideas on the positive dynamics of bilateral relations development in recent years, emphasizing the high level of political dialogue between Armenia and Canada.
The prospects for developing bilateral relations and regional and security issues were addressed. The parties also discussed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Canada in areas of mutual interest.
Deputy Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan appreciated Canada's position in defense of RA sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democracy and its role in the ongoing reforms in Armenia.
Paruyr Hovhannisyan also referred to the steps taken by RA in the direction of establishing peace in the South Caucasus, the latest developments in the process of regulating Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, and also presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the RA government.
