RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan disclosed the meetings held within the framework of the BRICS summit, particularly the private conversation with the President of Azerbaijan.
He emphasized that contacts during the BRICS summit, especially with the President of Azerbaijan, were necessary for Armenia. "It may sound strange that we haven't had such a long conversation. I feel that there was a little problem with correctness because the other leaders were speaking, and we had a critical conversation," he added. "I express my satisfaction with my contacts with Azerbaijan's President and the extended staff. A critical conversation occurred, and I think that meeting was crucial."
According to the Prime Minister, the main topic of the meeting was the peace process. "For peace, Azerbaijan and Armenia need agreements and a strategic deal. This is the important issue that should be devoted to the long-term context of how we will live as independent states in the coming centuries," he emphasized.
Pashinyan also informed that Armenia is close to agreeing on the text of the peace treaty.
He informed me that solutions may exist regarding the opening of regional communications, and this proposal has already been forwarded to Azerbaijan.
"The next important event in Kazan was that we could find a solution regarding opening regional communications. We also forwarded this proposal in writing to Azerbaijan," the Prime Minister noted.
Pashinyan added that Armenia's proposals regarding the remaining two articles of the peace treaty were forwarded to Azerbaijan on Monday. "Certain formalities remain, but we will continue the work."
