The private conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament was followed by an extended discussion with the participation of the Deputy Speakers of the Parliament and MPs representing various parties.
"I am happy to return to Stockholm and continue our discussions on the expansion of the Armenia-Sweden political agenda, our dialogue in the direction of promoting democratic reforms, as well as see the results of jointly developed programs and outline new perspectives," Minister Mirzoyan emphasized at the beginning of the meeting. Active inter-parliamentary contacts, including Armenia-Sweden inter-parliamentary friendly groups, were also highlighted in this context.
At the meeting, detailed references were made to the efforts to develop the new RA-EU partnership agenda. Sweden's active involvement in this process was based on democratic principles, common values and mutual interest in bringing RA closer to the EU.
Answering the questions of the audience, Minister Mirzoyan presented the main developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including border demarcation and the conclusion of a peace treaty. In the context of promoting regional interconnection with a wider geography, Ararat Mirzoyan noted the importance of implementing the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the RA Government as a guarantee of economic development and, therefore, ensuring stability.
Referring to the efforts made by RA to overcome various challenges, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the strong commitment to democratic values, the importance of close cooperation with like-minded partners in the direction of continuous strengthening of relevant institutions.
