For Russia and Azerbaijan, the presence of the EU mission on Armenia's eastern border is a direct threat, "Crossroads of Peace. uniting security and democracy," stated Arman Babajanyan, chairman of the "For the Republic" party, during the briefing held after the conference.
He says similar discussions are critical, and the popularization of "Crossroads of Peace" and in-depth discussions are helpful.
"The representative of Turkey also speaks here on behalf of Azerbaijan. To put it mildly, his arguments do not correspond to reality. "Armenia shows how constructive it is, and we hear from Turkey and Azerbaijan only reasons to have reservations in the direction of opening the border and not regulating relations," he noted.
Babajanyan also referred to the peace treaty, noting that Azerbaijan currently has a power advantage and wants to complete this process under favorable conditions and get the most.
"At the moment, Azerbaijan is not able to get the maximum. There are important international processes due to the regional and presidential elections in the USA, after which Azerbaijan sees the most profitable window for itself. An attack on Armenia at the end of November is not excluded," said Babajanyan.
According to Babajanyan, the second window is the big war in the Middle East, which can create an opportunity for Azerbaijan to fulfill its ambitions towards Armenia and, in particular, the "corridor."
Babajanyan added that since 2022, after the deployment of the EU civilian mission, Azerbaijan has reduced both the scope and number of escalations, we have no territorial losses, and there have been human casualties in those areas where EU observers were not allowed to carry out monitoring.
"Azerbaijan and Russia have identical views on this issue. The presence of EU observers is a threat to them. Russian-Azerbaijani complex agreements cannot be implemented. EU observers react quickly, closing the door and window of Russian-Azerbaijani collusive arrangements," concluded Babajanyan.
