The President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, received the President of the European Union Criminal Justice Cooperation Agency (Eurojust), Ladislav Hamran. Khachaturyan welcomed the guest and noted with satisfaction that the Armenia-EU legal framework is continuously expanding.
"I am glad that we managed to create a strong and institutional basis for cooperation, as a result of which the cooperation agreement was signed with the agency headed by you. Your visit and the official start of cooperation are important to the Republic of Armenia. This also emphasizes the importance of the development of Armenia-EU cooperation. We want to record that. Indeed, we attach great importance to the sphere of justice in Armenia, which is also aimed at protecting human rights and establishing democratic values," the President said.
Eurojust President Ladislav Hamran thanked me for the reception.
"I want to congratulate you on all the achievements that your country has made not only in the broader political context but also in terms of cooperation. In the last few years, you have recorded many achievements, especially in the framework of cooperation in the justice field," said Ladislav Hamran.
During the meeting, the existing problems of the reforms implemented in the justice system of Armenia in recent years and the steps taken by the government to solve them were discussed. The parties emphasized consistent and principled approaches to implementing reforms in the judicial system. Thoughts were also exchanged on the prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Armenia and Eurojust.
