Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan participated in the Summit of the Future within the framework of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Several dozen presidents and heads of world governments also participated in the event. Prime Minister Pashinyan made a speech in which he specifically stated:
"It is special for me to participate in the Summit of the Future because I received my current mandate as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia under the slogan "There is a future, there is a future" adopted by our party in the parliamentary elections. All the problems we have today are directly or indirectly related to decisions made and or not made at some point in the past; the same can be said for all successes and achievements today.
We can't change anything in the past, and we can't change much today because today is already the past to some extent. But designing the future is the most essential thing today. The agenda is peace, security, prosperity, freedom, justice, human rights, artificial intelligence, and climate. However, what is necessary is the concept on which we should base our ideas for the future.
Therefore, how should we build the future? The most important thing we can do for the future is to create positive conversations and focus on opportunities to create the foundations for them, whether they exist now or not.
One of the reasons for today's global crisis is that international platforms have long become a platform for mutual accusations, threats, impasses, and crises. I am trying to remember an upbeat speech on behalf of myself or other leaders on international platforms. And there are objective reasons for this. There is little material for positive discourse. And maybe it's because there was little or no positive talk in the past. We usually come to the UN to report how insufficient it will be because the evidence is so plentiful and everywhere that it doesn't take much effort to see. An effort should be made to consider the prerequisites for a promising future because what happens in reality first happens in our minds.
My party adopted the slogan "There is a future" in the conditions when there seemed to be no hope for optimism in our country and region. Now, it is globally. I want to voice that belief at the Future Summit; there is a Future, and I want to contribute to it. Unlike the previous three times, in my speech to the General Assembly this year, I will focus more on opportunities than blaming neighboring countries. It will also give a chance to think positively and talk about opportunities. Let's talk for now because "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Therefore, it is necessary to start with good words. It is necessary to put forward the slogan "There is a future" as a theorem and work towards proving it. Let's do it. Thank you for your attention."
