"The role of security guarantor has been assigned to Armenia by the tripartite declaration." Prime Minister

At the "Yerevan Dialogue" international forum, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred to the unblocking of transport routes and point 9 of the November 9, 2020, tripartite statement.

He reminded that the government has circulated a draft decision for almost two years, by which it is ready to implement the blockade. The Prime Minister detailed what is preventing the implementation of that process. "The problem is that not all our partners are inclined to take advantage of our opportunity. In particular, the question of how much the "crossroads of peace" project corresponds to or fits into the logic of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, is being discussed a lot. Recently, discussions on this issue have intensified, and an attempt is being made to present that the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, implies that the security of these communications in the territory of the Republic of Armenia should be ensured by third forces or a third country. I must say at once that such a perception has nothing to do with reality," he said, quoting point 9 of the tripartite statement.

"The tripartite statement assigned to Armenia the security function of opening regional communications in the territory of Armenia and the role of security guarantor. This is an open, public text," he said.

According to Pashinyan, some international partners are trying to present the statement differently. "For example, what is not in the tripartite statement? There is no such provision in the tripartite declaration of November 9," he said, urging to look for and find a provision in the declaration that would claim the opposite. "There is no provision that RA's jurisdiction in its sovereign territory should be limited in customs, border, phytosanitary and other controls. Such a provision does not exist and could not exist," he said.
