According to the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, the function of ensuring the safety of communications passing through the territory of the Republic of Armenia is reserved to the Republic of Armenia, said the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, answering the question of the audience of the NA summer school.
"Recently, there have been many discussions about regional communications. There are also some readings in those discussions. Recently, a high-ranking official of the Russian Federation announced in the tripartite declaration of November 9; it is written that the security of transport communications between the central part of Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan should be ensured by the forces of the border guard troops of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.
The November 9 statement does not contain such information. It is a public document that can be opened and read. On the contrary, it states that the Republic of Armenia ensures and guarantees communication security. Clause 9 of the announcement concerns opening all regional communications. Comments taken out of context are not only unhelpful but also harmful.
The RA government has publicly and officially presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project, and if anyone is against it, they should explain why," said Nikol Pashinyan.
