A proposal to form an initiative group to organize a referendum was submitted to the CEC

CEC informs that today, September 5, 2024, 51 citizens submitted to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Armenia the decision to form an initiative group to propose the draft of the RA Law "On the initiation of the accession process of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union" as a civil initiative.

Nune Hovhannisyan, the deputy chairman of the CEC, received the representatives of the initiative.

Artak Haykazi Zeynalyan was appointed as the authorized representative of the initiating group.

By the procedure established by the RA constitutional law "On Referendum," the initiative group submitted for registration: the decision on forming an initiative group and appointing an authorized representative of the initiative group signed by all members of the initiative group and the existing signatures notarized, copies of the identity document of the members of the initiative group, as well as the draft of the relevant law in electronic and paper versions.

In accordance with the legal regulations established by the RA Constitutional Law "On Referendum," the Central Election Commission registers the initiating group and its authorized representative within ten working days or rejects the registration if the requirements established by the law are not met.
