"After the signing of the peace treaty, EU observers may not be needed." Khandanyan
Sargis Khandanyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly, referred to Hajiyev, the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, 's statement that they do not see the need to continue the mission of EU civilian observers.
"The presence of the EU observation mission in Armenia is a matter to be discussed between Armenia and the EU. EU observers are stationed on the territory of the Republic of Armenia and monitor the border, so the Republic of Armenia and the EU must decide when for what period, and with what personnel the observers should be present. When the peace agreement is signed, when the border delimitation process is completed, and there is regional peace, maybe, logically, there will be no need for monitoring," he said.
