"We are going the right way." A joint session of Armenian and Georgian FR commissions was held

The joint second session of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the RA NA and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Parliament of Georgia took place on September 2.

Welcoming the Georgian colleagues who arrived in Armenia, Sargis Khandanyan, chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, emphasized the importance of holding meetings between the foreign relations committees of the parliaments of the two countries by the memorandum of cooperation signed jointly in November 2022.

The parties valued signing the cooperation agreement on strategic partnership by the two countries' prime ministers.

"The dynamics of relations at legislative and executive levels show that we are going the right way. Interdepartmental relations and parliamentary cooperation have become more active in recent years," said Nikoloz Samkharadze, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, expressing his gratitude for the warm reception.

The deputies presented Armenia and Georgia's current political and economic situation and discussed close cooperation with the European Union. Sargis Khandanyan referred to the latest developments in normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and emphasized the importance of concluding a peace treaty to ensure long-term stability in the region. The importance of recognizing the territorial integrity of all area states was noted.

The next joint session of the foreign relations committees of the RA National Assembly and the Parliament of Georgia will be held in Tbilisi.

From the Armenian side, Maria Karapetyan, Lena Nazaryan, and Hripsime Grigoryan, the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations members, took part in the session. From the Georgian side, Mariam Lashkhi, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, and committee members Irakli Mezurnishvili and Khatia Tsilosani participated in the session.
