Today, the Governor of Syunik, Robert Ghukasyan, received Canada's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia, Andrew Turner. The governor thanked the high-ranking diplomat for visiting Syunik and congratulated him on opening the Canadian embassy in RA and Mr. Turner's appointment as the first ambassador.
The governor expressed his belief that opening the embassy would strengthen the ties between the two friendly countries and open new prospects for cooperation.
The ambassador's first visit to Syunik was familiar, and he asked Robert Ghukasyan several questions about the region. The governor then presented the structure of Syunik's economy, general security situation, development opportunities, etc., to the guests.
Andrew Turner noted that getting to know and cooperating with the RA marzes outside the capital is essential, and Syunik is unique with its geopolitical position and role.
The ambassador expressed his readiness to work on developing partnership relations between Canadian investors and business people in the region.
Other areas of possible future cooperation were also discussed, including the direction in which work will be done on both sides. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to RA, accompanied by Governor Robert Ghukasyan, also visited Kapan Airport, got acquainted with its work, and visited the Kapan Geological Museum.
