The EU is interested in further expanding the dialogue. Borel

For the first time, the EU will provide 10 million euros to Armenia from the European Peace Fund. The aid to support the Republic of Armenia aims to increase the logistical capabilities of the Armed Forces of Armenia and contribute to improving the protection of the civilian population in crises and emergencies.

The decision was made within the framework of the EU partnership with Armenia and is based on shared values. It aims to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in Armenia and the South Caucasus. It also aims to increase Armenia's resistance and speed up the interoperability of the armed forces in the future in the event of the country's possible participation in international military missions and operations, including those organized by the EU.

According to the decision, the support will provide an entire tented camp for a battalion-sized unit.

"Security is an important element in bilateral relations with Armenia. The High Representative noted that the EU has a mutual interest in further expanding its dialogue on foreign and security policy, also considering Armenia's future participation in EU-led missions and operations," said Josep Borel, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Affairs.

"The EU is committed to expanding the comprehensive political and economic partnership with Armenia, based on the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, and further strengthening relations in all dimensions. This includes the activation of dialogue and cooperation in foreign and security policy, which also includes the common security and defense policy," the EU Council said in a press release.
