On July 12, RA NA Deputy Speaker Hakob Arshakyan received Austria's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Thomas Mühlman (residence: Tbilisi).
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly highly appreciated Austria's support of our country since establishing diplomatic relations and noted the ambassador's commitment and willingness to help.
Hakob Arshakyan emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in bilateral relations, which is clearly evidenced by the activities of friendly groups.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly valued the start of the dialogue on visa liberalization, expressing his belief that Austria would agree to that process. Establishing a resident diplomatic representation of Austria in Armenia has become critical. The ambassador, in turn, promised to forward the request to the competent authorities.
"Armenia's commitment to the establishment of peace and stability in our region should be considered not only as a prerequisite for the prosperity of our citizens but also as part of the collective vision of the European family. It should promote common values such as democracy, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights," said Hakob Arshakyan, referring to regional stability and security issues. In this context, he mentioned the resolution "On the involvement of Austria in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the improvement of the living conditions of the refugee civilian population, especially women and children," unanimously adopted by the Austrian National Council on April 17, 2024.
The process of regulating Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, the efforts of the Armenian side in this matter, the expansion of parliamentary relations, the perspectives of the RA-EU partnership, the importance of the EU observation mission, the promotion of cooperation in several fields, and other issues were discussed.
