Canada highly appreciates RA's efforts towards peace in the region.

The President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, received Canadian Ambassador to Armenia Andrew Turner. Khachaturyan congratulated the ambassador on the national holiday and asked to convey his warm wishes to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canadian Governor General Mary Simon, and the friendly people of Canada.

The President expressed his belief that opening the Canadian embassy in Armenia months ago deepened bilateral relations and expanded mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

"I am sure that your activities in our country will not only contribute to the further development of our relations but also provide an opportunity to gain a real understanding of the events taking place here," the President said.

Vahagn Khachaturyan also expressed solidarity with Canada for its support of Armenia during a difficult period. In that context, Canada's involvement in the EU observation mission, a valuable contribution to strengthening regional security and peace, was particularly emphasized.

Ambassador Andrew Turner thanked for the warm welcome and good wishes."We are deeply moved by the attitude we have received since the opening of the Canadian Embassy in Armenia, which was held in October with the participation of Foreign Minister Joly. We are very excited that today, we are already on the ground, through the embassy, ​​and we have the opportunity to work in the direction of deepening cooperation in various fields," the ambassador said in particular.

Andrew Turner noted that Canada highly appreciates Armenia's continuous efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region and will continue to provide assistance in this regard. He also expressed Canada's willingness to continue supporting the RA leadership in strengthening democracy.

The interlocutors exchanged ideas on promoting and deepening mutually beneficial Armenian-Canadian cooperation in various fields.
