Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at the "Armenian Forum for Democracy-2024" event that democracy is not a reality created by circumstances but a strategy, and the government and the ruling majority will continue this strategic project. "We have to record what happened to the agenda of democracy that we had seven years ago. I must record that there are not a few changes that have taken place in the country in terms of democracy. For example, "electoral fraud" and "falsification of election results" are already assigned to the historical genre. It is essential. When a road has been dilapidated for decades and is suddenly repaired, it is news to people for only a week; after that, it is commonplace and will not surprise or make anyone happy anymore. Because they are happy - it's over, and now they need new occasions to be happy," he said.
According to him, 7-8 years ago, challenges related to the freedom of assembly or the restriction of access to certain places were discussed. "One thing is clear: democracy is taking root in Armenia, and the international community perceives Armenia more and more as a part of international or global democracy. And this is perhaps the most important record we can make today and the most visible success that democracy has recorded in Armenia," said Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, it would be good to summarize the forum's results and what development tactics should be adopted for democratic reforms.
