Within the framework of the working visit, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Estonian Riigikogu (Parliament) President Lauri Hussar. Mati Raidma, the chairman of the Armenia-Estonia parliamentary friendship group, also participated in the conference.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the bilateral agenda and regional developments.
"Relations between our two countries and peoples are based on historical ties, friendship, appreciation of fundamental principles, and in the current period full of challenges, the further deepening of these ties is more than important," Foreign Minister Mirzoyan emphasized.
Both sides noted with satisfaction that the dynamics of high-level mutual visits between Armenia and Estonia are evidence of expanding relations, including in terms of parliamentary diplomacy. In this context, the active interaction of friendly groups operating in both parliaments was highlighted.
Minister Mirzoyan presented the progress of democratic reforms in Armenia and the recorded successes, also thanking Estonia for the support shown on that path. "The citizens of Armenia have made their choice, and the government is determined to continue the reforms, including in close cooperation with like-minded partners," added Ararat Mirzoyan.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Speaker of the Parliament of Estonia also exchanged ideas on the agenda of the partnership between the Republic of Armenia and the EU and the steps taken to deepen relations, taking into account the European aspirations of the Republic of Armenian citizens.
The interlocutors also touched on regional security issues. Minister Mirzoyan presented to the interlocutor the normalization process of relations with the neighbors, including the importance of concluding a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
