Mirzoyan stressed the importance of starting a dialogue on visa liberalization with the EU

On June 20, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan met with the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen. The chairman of the Seimas's Foreign Relations Committee and the head of the PACE delegation also attended the meeting.

Further deepening of partnership between the two countries and regional issues were discussed.

"I fondly remember my previous visit to Lithuania as the President of the RA National Assembly. We are united not only by strong ties and friendship but also by democratic values ​​and the challenges that often arise to advance them," the RA Foreign Minister emphasized.

The interlocutors referred to the achievements registered due to implementing Armenia's ambitious agenda of democratic reforms. Minister Mirzoyan expressed his gratitude for the support shown on that road and for strengthening Armenia's sovereignty and resistance.

The issue of cooperation on multilateral platforms was also addressed.

Ararat Mirzoyan and the Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas and members of Parliament exchanged ideas on the prospects of deepening the RA-EU partnership, both in the context of the successful implementation of current programs and significant progress in new directions through the use of existing tools. Emphasizing the expansion of contacts between people and the active involvement of Armenian youth in EU programs, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of starting a dialogue with the EU on visa liberalization.

Regarding regional security issues, Ararat Mirzoyan presented Armenia's vision of achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus and the steps taken to implement it. Minister Mirzoyan presented the current picture of regulating relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the discussions on the draft peace treaty.
