"It is necessary to use the real opportunities to achieve peace." Mirzoyan to Siebert

On June 4, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, received Mikhail Siebert, the managing director for Eastern Europe, Russia, Central Asia, regional cooperation, and the OSCE of the European Service of the EU.

The interlocutors discussed several issues related to the comprehensive and ambitious agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership. They exchanged thoughts on the new partnership agenda.

"We fully hope that this new agenda will include all the key components and tools in line with the dynamics and goals of partnership development, as well as the direction of democratic reforms in RA," Minister Mirzoyan emphasized.

The continuation of the RA-EU comprehensive and expanded partnership agreement and the maximum realization of the opportunities available after it was highlighted.

Among other issues, Ararat Mirzoyan and Mikhail Siebert referred to the EU monitoring mission in RA, steps towards strengthening the RA resistance, and issues of cooperation in the economic sphere. Matters related to regional security were also discussed.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia presented the latest developments in the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, including discussions on the draft peace treaty. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the importance of the continuity of the border demarcation process based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. The head of the RA foreign political department emphasized that it is necessary to use the existing real opportunity to achieve lasting peace.
