Deputy Ministers of Justice Levon Balyan and Karen Karapetyan received the delegation led by Alexis Haftvan, director of the Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Cooperation (INL) of the US State Department. The deputy ministers highly appreciated the cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the US Office of Drug Enforcement and Law Enforcement Cooperation.
Karen Karapetyan presented the main directions of the 2023-2026 anti-corruption strategy, the action plan arising from it, and the steps already taken. Representatives of the US Department of State's Office of Drug Enforcement and Law Enforcement Cooperation presented the program "Promotion of comprehensive anti-corruption reforms" launched by the East-West Management Institute and its main goals and directions.
The parties also referred to the deepening of cooperation in combating ML/AF, particularly the possibility of providing expert and technical assistance within the framework of the presented program.
During the meeting, Levon Balyan presented the reforms implemented in the prison and probation sectors. He made a particular reference to using electronic tools within the framework of alternative ways of serving punishment.
The parties agreed to cooperate more closely in this direction and continue exchanging ideas. At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue practical cooperation and expand its scope.
