The President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, received the delegation led by the President of the Bouches-du-Rhône Department of France and Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, Martine Vassal. Welcoming the guests, the President noted:
"I am happy to host you at the RA President's residence. Rest assured that it is always a pleasure for us to meet official and unofficial French delegations. Using this opportunity, I thank all of you for your excellent work in strengthening Armenian-French relations. I would also like to express my special thanks to French President Macron, the French National Assembly, the Senate, all the deputies, as well as the representatives of the French local authorities for the support they have shown over the years, especially during the events related to Nagorno Karabakh and today also to those displaced from Nagorno Karabakh, regarding the social-humanitarian assistance provided to our compatriots.
Again, I emphasize that Armenian-French relations have a thousand-year history, and we can discuss many vital events in each period. However, today, I want to especially mention the incredible support that France has shown to the Republic of Armenia since its independence. I appreciate your visit today as another contributing factor to the work done and another step to promote strengthening our relations."
Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Martine Vasal noted: "Mr. President, we are very grateful for the hospitality, warm words, and attitude we are receiving in Armenia. Armenian-French friendship is centuries old, and our visit aims to give new momentum to our partnership."
During the meeting, issues related to the broad agenda of Armenian-French cooperation were discussed. Reference was made to the possibilities of partnership and the implementation of joint projects between the individual cities of the two countries. The parties emphasized the importance of investing in expanding the development of existing cooperation in the economy and business spheres.
During the conversation, ideas were exchanged regarding the general internal and external situation and current developments in Armenia. The parties also referred to the plans and planned steps implemented by Armenia to solve the social-humanitarian and complex housing problems of forcibly displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh.
